Shakes: The worse they taste, the better they are

Bitter Taste, Sweet Life

An absolute must for your well-being and self-care routine has to be a shake as I like to call it, or a smoothie as others call it. And a shake is made in a blender! We don’t juice over here because juicing is bad for your health and you can read more about this topic in a an upcoming blog post I will write titled “Why juicing is bad for your health”.

Before I tell you how to make the perfect shake, I need you to get in the right state of mind first and ask yourself WHY you want to drink a shake. Is it for the taste or is it for what it can do for you? if you answered the ladder, continue reading. And if you’re looking for a hip new smoothie recipe that tastes super-exotic, then check out my “The Real Deal Mango Lassi recipe“.

So, now for the serious self-care enthusiasts, go into your kitchen, open all cabinets, drawers, and fridge, examine all shelves and the herbs & spice rack, and take out anything that you know is known to be healthy. Now go nuts and load up the blender. a little carrot, some spinach, a piece of cauliflower, an apple, rice milk, some walnuts, oats, lemon, pepper, cinnamon, curry, basil, a shot of olive oil, some apple cider……whatever you think is healthy. The more variety the better, the more tools your body has to work with. And take small portions of each ingredient, it’s easy to overdo it and you’re left with a concoction thick like cement overflowing and spilling all over. I try to fill the blender up 25% with raw foods and it leaves you plenty of space to play with the consistency. Add liquids of your choosing and fire it up!

Now drink it up and try not to gag lol, you’ll get used to it. Bitter Taste, Sweet Life remember? Wait and really see how that concoction will make your body feel happy and how energized you will be! Every single cell will have a big smile on their face and thank you for giving them the tools to repair and maintain your temple!
